During the Pittsfield School Committee Meeting on Wednesday, April 10th, Superintendent Joseph Curtis revealed yet another exciting development. He confirmed the submission of the Statement of Interest to the Massachusetts School Building Authority, or MSBA, after months of discussion. Addressing the Committee, Superintendent Curtis said “…Just about an hour ago, we have submitted both Statements of Interest to the Massachusetts School Building Authority um for John C. Crosby and Sylvio Conte Community School, which really is only a step in reflection of a year’s work…And as you know, there’s still a long ways to go, but this is the first step.”

Superintendent Curtis projected that the City could expect a response from the MSBA by early December, although he remained hopeful for an earlier notification. “As we have discussed with the City Council, that we will receive some kind of notification at least by December. And that could actually happen much earlier. There’s a board that oversees this process…The longest consideration it could be is December, but it could be much earlier, in July or August or September. So we’re looking forward to hearing from them.”

Additionally, he highlighted that the MSBA had funded an above average 19 building projects last year and expressed aspirations for similar funding this year.
