Pittsfield Police to Join Multi-State Initiative for Highway 20 Speed Enforcement

On Wednesday, March 20th, the Pittsfield Police Department announced their participation in the “Highway 20 Speed Enforcement Project,” a collaborative effort involving law enforcement agencies from 12 other states traversed by Route 20.

Initiated by the Iowa State Police, the project aims to enhance traffic safety and reduce accidents along the extensive 3,300-mile highway, the longest in the nation, stretching from Massachusetts to Oregon. Lieutenant Marc Maddalena of the Pittsfield Police Department highlighted the significance of this initiative in a press release, emphasizing the critical need to address speeding and promote safer driving practices.

As part of their involvement, Pittsfield Police will conduct speed enforcement activities and deploy additional patrols along US 20, from South Street through West Housatonic Street, exclusively on this upcoming Wednesday, March 20th.
