Pittsfield Police Department Announces the Return of Citizen Police Academy

In a statement released on Monday, March 25th, the Pittsfield Police Department revealed the revival of its esteemed Citizen Police Academy, slated to commence on April 30th, 2024 and run through June 4th, 2024.

The comprehensive program, designed to foster a deeper comprehension of law enforcement operations and contemporary policing concerns, will host sessions both at the Pittsfield Police Department and the Berkshire Innovation Center every Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. The department extends an invitation to all interested parties including citizens, volunteers, and educators to seize this unique opportunity, with class sizes limited to 20 participants.

Aspiring attendees are encouraged to promptly secure their spots. Applicants, who must be at least 18 years old and either reside or work with within Pittsfield, will undergo a criminal history background screening as part of the application process. Applications are available for pickup at the police station’s front lobby and must be submitted no later than Monday, April 22nd. Completed applications may be delivered in person to PPD Headquarters sent via email or mailed to 39 Allen Street, Pittsfield MA.
