This list highlights individuals who have completed the process to become certified candidates – in some cases, they will be required to participate in the Preliminary Election on September 19.  Only candidates marked in orange with an * are confirmed as candidates for the General Election on November 7.

All Preliminary candidates received this packet of information, explaining the services available to all candidates and the policies that protect them.

Preliminary Election candidates have been listed in ballot order – as the ballot for the General Election is not yet completed, candidates who are not participating in the Preliminary Election are listed in alphabetical order.

ELECTION 2023 DETAILS

All of Pittsfield’s elected positions will be on the municipal ballot in 2023 – this includes the positions of:

  • Mayor
  • City Clerk
  • Six (6) School Committee Seats
  • Four (4) At-Large City Council Seats
  • Seven (7) Ward-specific City Council Seats.

The preliminary election — applicable when there are more than two candidates per available position — will take place on Tuesday, September 19.

The general election will take place on Tuesday, November 7.  The City Clerk will conduct a drawing for general election ballot name locations at Noon on September 28.

Mail-In Ballots postmarked no later than September 12 for the preliminary election, and October 31 for the general election.

Voter Absentee ballots for the preliminary election must be submitted in person by Noon on September 18 and by noon on November 6 for the general election.
