ELECTION 2023 DETAILS

All of Pittsfield’s elected positions will be on the municipal ballot in 2023 – this includes the positions of:

  • Mayor
  • City Clerk
  • Six (6) School Committee Seats
  • Four (4) At-Large City Council Seats
  • Seven (7) Ward-specific City Council Seats.

The general election will take place on Tuesday, November 7.

The preliminary election — applicable when there are more than two candidates per available position — will take place on Tuesday, September 19.

Nomination papers will be available on Monday, April 3.

Candidates must submit completed nomination papers for signature certification by Friday, July 21. Certified papers must then be submitted to the City Clerk by Friday, August 4. Candidates who qualify for the ballot can remove their names through Tuesday, August 8.

The City Clerk will conduct a drawing for preliminary ballot name locations at Noon on August 10, and for general election ballot name locations at Noon on September 28.

Mail-In Ballots postmarked no later than September 12 for the preliminary election, and October 31 for the general election.

Voter Absentee ballots for the preliminary election must be submitted in person by Noon on September 18 and by noon on November 6 for the general election.
