City of Pittsfield to Host Community Meeting on the Mosquito Management Plan

The City of Pittsfield will be hosting a community meeting on Monday, April 29th at 6:00pm at the Berkshire Athenaeum, in the auditorium located at 1 Wendell Avenue to present and gather input on the city’s Mosquito Management Plan. Panelists will include Ward 4 City Councilor James Conant, Conservation Agent Robert Van Der Car, Public Health Director Andy Camby, and Board of Health members Roberta Orsi and Doctor Jeffrey Leppo.

Doctor Andrew Lover, the assistant professor of epidemiology from UMass and Deputy Director of New England’s Center of Excellence in Vector-Borne Disease or NEWVEC will also be joining the panel. The press release states that NEWVEC focuses on preventing vector borne diseases and testing evidence based solutions for more effective control of ticks and mosquitoes across New England.

At the end of the presentation which will include the city’s current mosquito management plan, a brief history and an overview of regional mosquito management practices, participants will be able to ask questions.
