MUNICIPAL ELECTION:
Tuesday November 4, 2025 – Polls Open from 8 AM to 8 PM.
VOTER REGISTRATION DEADLINE:

Friday, October 24, is the deadline to register to vote or to make changes to voter registration. To be eligible to vote in the November 4, 2025, general election, residents of the City of Pittsfield must be properly registered by the deadline. City Hall, located at 70 Allen Street, will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on October 24, 2025.

 

ABSENTEE BALLOTS and VOTE BY MAIL APPLICATION DEADLINES:

Absentee ballots are currently available. A person is eligible to vote by absentee ballot if they are a registered voter and will be unable to vote at the polls on Election Day for any one of the following three reasons: (1) absence from the city during normal polling hours, (2) physical disability preventing you from going to the polls, (3) religious beliefs. Voters must first complete an absentee ballot application. The deadline to vote in person by absentee ballot is 12:00 p.m. on Monday, November 3, 2025. Voters who wish to vote by absentee ballot may vote by mail or in person. In addition, Vote by Mail applications are also available for anyone who wishes to vote early by MAIL. The last day to request a ballot by mail is Tuesday, October 28, 2025, by 5:00 p.m. Voters must first complete an application, and a ballot will be mailed to them. There is no early in person voting for local elections.

Voter Registration, Absentee Ballot Applications and Vote by Mail applications are available from the Registrar of Voters’ Office in City Hall from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

ELECTION 2025 DETAILS

With the exception of the office of Mayor, all of Pittsfield’s elected positions will be on the municipal ballot in 2025 – this includes the positions of:

  • City Clerk
  • Six (6) School Committee Seats
  • Four (4) At-Large City Council Seats
  • Seven (7) Ward-specific City Council Seats.

The general election will take place on Tuesday, November 4 . 

There will be no preliminary election this year, as no race has the number of candidates required for one to be conducted.

The preliminary election — applicable when there are more than two candidates per available position — will take place on Tuesday, September 16.

Nomination papers will be available on Thursday, April 3.

Candidates must submit completed nomination papers for signature certification by Friday, July 18. Certified papers must then be submitted to the City Clerk by Friday, August 1. Candidates who qualify for the ballot can remove their names through Tuesday, August 5.

The City Clerk will conduct a drawing for preliminary ballot name locations at Noon on August 7, and for general election ballot name locations at Noon on September 25.

Mail-In Ballots postmarked no later than September 9 for the preliminary election, and October 28 for the general election.

Voter Absentee ballots for the preliminary election must be submitted in person by Noon on September 15 and by noon on November 3 for the general election.
